Homesteader's Gift Guide
I just had to find a present or two for my favorite homesteader (my husband). And he loved his gifts. So here's what I just got him for Father's Day, am getting him for our anniversary in August, or am hoping he'll get me. And a few things I'm planning to get for myself. (Click on the pictures for the links)
Chainsaw Chaps
One close call is enough. I like my husband with both his legs attached and in one piece. And we do A LOT of chainsawing around our place. So these were the first thing I got him for Father's Day. They're one of the less expensive pairs on Amazon, but have lots of good reviews.
Storey's Guide
This is a whole collection of guides to raising animals. We have the guide to dairy goats and training driving horses. They have very, very beginner information for before you buy an animal, up to pretty advanced advice about nutrition, breeding, etc. There's a guide for chickens, sheep, etc. so take your pick.
Mason Jar Soap Dispensers
I have been looking at these, putting them in my Amazon cart, and taking them out for about three years now. I have no idea why I don't just buy them. They're so cute and functional. And would look so much nicer than the 97 cent soap dispenser I have that comes with the soap in it. Once we are making our own goat milk lotion, I plan to use these for lotion as well.
Lavender Plant
I have a small potted lavender and big dreams. I want to infuse oils with my lavender, maybe make some tea, and use it in soaps and lotions. It's a pretty little plant that brightens up my living room.

House Plants
And as long as we're talking plants, I'm convinced you can never go wrong giving a plant as a gift. My collection is growing (no pun intended!). African violets are surprisingly easy to keep alive, also ivy varieties, and pothos.
Infusion Pitcher
Another one from my wish list. This one is supposed to be able to hold hot beverages as well, and I think experimenting with some homemade tea infusions would be kind of fun this winter.
Berkey Water System
This is what we use for all our drinking/cooking water. All our water comes from rainwater, so it's clear to start with, but we've also used our Berkey to filter out melted snow and pond water. (Because we like to test the limits of things we buy, ha!) It works great. We also bought the stainless steel spigot upgrade, so I'm not sure how durable the standard spigot is. But we haven't had any problems and we are TOUGH on things.
Garden Tools
Any gardening or fencing tools are a hot commodity for us. Shovels, hoes, rakes,
pitchforks, post hole diggers, fence post drivers... Always a good gift idea for anyone
with a garden or animals.
I know my wish list is a lot longer than this, as well as things we use a lot around our place. But I'd love to hear what you can't live without at your house.
